Most people have some extra fat on the their body that they would like to get rid of. For most of these people it’s belly fat the want to get rid of, and they want to get rid of that belly fat fast. In todays world most people including yourself probably overeat a lot of the year and then try to get rid of the belly fat fast when the good weather comes around, sound familiar? Trying to lose belly fat isn’t a quick fix, it’s going to take some work, but not as much as you may think.

A lot of people lose weight but struggle to lose the last bit of weight around their belly. It’s actually one of the hardest areas to remove fat because it consists of what’s known as ’stubborn’ fat.

Fat around your mid-section is physiologically different (only slightly) from the fat on the rest of your body. Your body stores fat there first as it is needed for protection - there are a lot of organs behind that layer of fat. As such your body is going to try to hold onto that fat - not so good for your six pack quest.

You’re just going to have to work smarter and harder. Give yourself a realistic time line and set yourself a goal, this will help you determine how much work you will have to put in.

Lets get started - we’re going to begin with weight lifting. Lift the heaviest weight you can as this will help increase your metabolism. Try to get 8-10 reps.

Get that heart pumping - cardio is very important but you don’t need to run or cycle for hours at a time. Focus on high intensity cardio, sprints and running up hills. Do some bursts of these and then some more sedate cardio. This will get the fatty acids moving from the tissue and you can burn them off with the more sedate steady cardio. This method is very effective at getting stubborn belly fat or any other fat off your body.

Last but not least - check your diet. Too much carbs or fat calories will slow down your progress. Try to eat some protein with every meal, your body actually burns more calories to digest protein.

Be careful not to over-do it. Be patient and always push yourself a little more when working out in the gym, you’ll be well on the way to getting your own set of ripped six pack abs.
