Anyone who saw the movie 300 couldn’t have been less than immensely impressed by the bodies of the actors who played the spartan warriors. Each of them was muscular and extremely lean, with a highly advanced muscle tone. This kind of body was achieved by following a careful diet and a special 300 workout routine known from that moment as the Spartan 300 workout.

The workout consisted of 300 repetitions of various strength exercises, done without rest. This means that the entire 300 reps need to be done in a single stretch. This is a massive workout and one which can’t be done easily. It strains all of the muscles in your body and provides an all around workout.

But is the Spartan 300 Workout only a strength workout or is it also a cardio workout?

The truth is that it’s both. Once you get your heart pumping to those high levels, you also get a cardiovascular stimulation which exceeds most regular cardio workouts. So the Spartan 300 workout isn’t merely a muscle building routine, it also boosts cardiovascular ability and burns a lot of fat.

However, doing the 300 movie workout isn’t easy since it requires a lot of exercise equipment which most people don’t have access to. That’s why I was excited to read that famous trainer, Craig Ballantyne, created a similar routine which is based on bodyweight alone. This is known as the Bodyweight 500 workout and can be done by anyone at home.

The Bodyweight 500 workout works on all the major muscle groups and provides an excellent stimulation. Done correctly it is also an incredibly effective cardio workout and is an excellent way to get in shape in a short time with minimum equipment.

Have you been searching for the best fat burning exercises to lose fat fast? I know exactly how you feel! I remember when I first started 5 years ago with my weight loss and muscle building efforts, I didn’t know squat (no pun intended) about exercises. Over the years I have learned what the best fat burning exercises are if you want to lose fat and do so fast. Read on for more info…

First things first. Always remember and understand that in order to lose fat fast, you are going to have to understand and practice all of the basic core principles of a healthy lifestyle if you expect to see results. What are these basic core principles? Simply put, proper nutrition (protein, complex carbs, healthy fats such as monounsaturated and Omega Fatty Acids, fiber, and foods rich in vitamins and minerals), drink plenty of water daily (I recommend for you to drink 1/2 to 1 gallon of water daily), get plenty of sleep every night (7-8 hours of rest every night is ideal), and of course…exercise.

What are the best fat burning exercises to lose fat fast?

High intensity exercising. High intensity exercises produce phenomenal results…and does so quickly.

Here are some examples of high intensity exercises:

Super set weight training. Simply alternate between two different workouts (i.e. dumbbell arm curls and cable rows) without rest and do so for up to 3 sets of 10 reps per exercise. After the super set, rest for 2 minutes.

Incline treadmill. Instead of cruising a long all relaxed on the treadmill…crank that bad boy up!!! lol Walking on an incline treadmill is a tremendous workout. For beginners I recommend for you to walk at a speed of 3.0 and an incline of 6 degrees. If you are advanced, walk at a speed of 3.5 and an incline of up to 15 degrees.

Sprints. Sprints are powerful, short, and a tremendous workout to help lose fat fast. Simply run at full speed between to points of location twice, rest, and repeat for up to just 10 minutes for a gut busting workout!

Are you ready to “lose fat fast” now? I have researched over 25 of the top weight loss programs available today. Only 5 programs were chosen as the most recommended based off of my 8 point analysis.

These programs all share one thing in common….they are all straight to the point and are not your typical “low calorie”, “no carb”, “don’t eat anything all day”, “just do jumping jacks”, type of weight loss programs. Find out more information at http://www.burnthefatoff.info

I wish you the best of success in getting yourself in better health and getting yourself a body you’ve always dreamed of….except this time….you WILL make your dreams come true!

One of the most widely held beliefs among the weight loss community is that low carb diets are the key to a fast slim-down.

Just think of all of the “low carb” diets available…

– Atkins — South Beach — Zone

…just to name a few.

But why do so many weight loss professionals promote carbohydrate restriction?

Four words… it appears to work.

Those who restrict carbohydrates, often do lose weight quickly. And for individuals who are desperate to lose weight this quick slim-down seems like the “light at the end of the tunnel”. It appears to them that they have found the “holy grail” of weight loss in cutting carbs.

But have they only been fooled?

The answer is a resounding yes!

The truth is that your body depends on GOOD carbohydrates for the majority of its functions and when there is an absence of GOOD carbohydrates (As there is with carb restricted diets) your body will actually manufacture its own in order to maintain tissues that absolutely need them! Because the manufacturing of carbohydrates takes additional energy your body will burn an excess amount of calories… something that promoters of low carb diets call the “Metabolic Advantage”.

Along with the excess use of energy by the body to produce carbohydrates, people who are on low carbohydrate diets are also eating fewer calories because they are consuming far fewer BAD carbohydrates than they typically would on a day to day basis…

– French fries

– Boxed cereals

– Soda (diet or regular)

– White Bread

– Refined Pastas

– Salad Dressings

– White sugar

It’s this combination of an increased use of energy by the body to manufacture carbs and fewer calories from refined carbs going into the body that makes low carb diets produce quick weight loss…

…giving the illusion that the diet is actually working, when really it’s only a set up for massive failure!

So what’s the problem?

The problem is that most carb restricted diets make no distinction between good carbs and bad carbs. These diets simply teach the elimination of most carbs from your caloric intake. This is a huge mistake because eliminating good carbs from your diet causes the body to go into survival mode, meaning that it will store and ration the food you consume.

As a result, when a person who has been on such a diet begins to eat normal again, the body will store increased quantities of the food they eat as fat!

Your body needs good carbs like whole grains, vegetables and fruits. Vital organs such as your brain, kidneys and liver absolutely will not function without carbohydrates and when these carbs are cut out of your diet for any extended period the affects can be extremely dangerous! At some point you will have to consume good carbs or you will seriously impact your health!

There’s no need to partake in low carb diets to lose weight. There are other alternatives that produce faster, healthier and longer lasting weight loss!

It is more reasonable to say lose fat, as the term is initially designed for those overweight people who have put on too much fat in their body, and even their organs, which threatens their health. It is true that nowadays, overweight people are still being troubled by such health threats.

However, the term lose fat has secretly changed into ‘lose weight’, for when people does not have excessive fat to lose, they are still making efforts to reduce their body weight. And it has even become a social phenomenon that females are struggling for a bony image of their own, especially in East Asian countries. And it is mainly because of three reasons: first, physically female have more fat than average man, as a result, female have to lose more weight to achieve a visual image which does not contain much fat; second, the bone structure of Asian girls are not as good as the western and African females. Being oppressed to look more beautiful in body shape, they have no other choice. Last but not the least, the recent fashion is that bony is beauty, which forces many plump girls to adapt themselves into this beauty evaluation principle.

Now the question is, what to lose in order to lose weight, and how much can we lose? The most commonly adopted method is to go on a diet. However, most girls are still stuck in a stage which holds a superstitious believe in vegetable and fruit, and which, is never the most efficient, or even the right way, to lose one’s weight. There are mainly two results among people who adopt this method: one is have no obvious result, the other is get thinner, in the mean time adopt a very unhealthy and oppressive eating habit, which does not worth the pay. Another way is to go sporting, which is comparatively healthier than the former one. However, girls may not have enough energy to go sporting frequently, and more importantly, most of them do not have the interest. What’s more is that, if they do not manage their diet well, the result will be the increase of their weight, which goes against their will.

The most effective way, certainly is, diet as the main point, and sports to help the former. However, what to eat and how to go sport, still remain arguable.

Some researchers advise that smokers who successfully quit smoking need to make sure they do not put on extra weight after quitting. Some studies have found out that many people who quit smoking gain extra weight. In such cases, dietary advice is necessary and should be provided along with treatment drugs by the drug provider or the doctor.

Reasons for Weight Gain

It has been seen that most of the smokers who continue with this habit for a long time often suffer from lung disease including cancer. The normal functioning of lungs in smokers declines over time. After quitting though, they put on weight.

Smokers who put on weight have poor lung function. So, it negates the benefit of quitting smoking. If you have decided to say good bye to smoking, first talk to your doctor who may suggest some dietary plans too.

Some smokers cite excuses including fears of weight gain if they quit smoking. You might have come across a report of the WHO, which says that smoking is the leading cause of death and diseases among people worldwide.

It’s better to stop smoking and then later attend the issues of weight gain, if it arises. This advice could be encouragement for smokers who find excuses of not being able to quit smoking.

Blind Belief about Smoking

You may have come across many smokers who cite reasons for their smoking. The most general one is smokers feel relieved from stress or tension after taking a few deep puffs of cigarettes. There is little truth in this though. Smoking is associated with many serious diseases that can causes death in some cases and degrade the quality of life in other cases.

What are Benefits of Quitting Smoking?

The foremost benefit that a smoker can experience after quitting is improvement in overall quality of health. The taste buds will discover their lost sensations and you will find food tastier than before.

The risk for diseases becomes less and even if you have contracted any, its treatment is speedy. Apart from health benefits of quitting, you may also observe monetary benefits. You can save the money that is normally wasted in buying cigarettes. This becomes a huge amount if you have been smoking for a long time. Just give it a thought!

How to Quit?

If you are serious about quitting, then there are many helpful resources for you. The best advice is to consult a doctor, who may recommend to you a quit smoking plan in addition to some useful quit smoking drug.

One of the prescription drugs, Champix has been quite successful in its clinical trials. Many smokers have successfully quit smoking with the help of this drug, which is taken orally. It is a prescription drug, you need to consult a doctor before taking it as quit smoking aid.

It is important for you to understand that your success in achieving a flat stomach or toning your abdominal muscles depends to a great extent on reducing the overall fat from your body. Cardiovascular exercises are equally important as abdominal workouts in reducing fat deposits.

You need to reduce a good amount of your overall body fat to reveal your ab muscles underneath. Therefore, the ideal way to achieve it is to perform cardio exercise and to maintain a regular and healthy diet. Before you start doing exercises on a machine or follow a workout program you need to consult your physician, particularly if you have any existing health problems.

Walking and jogging are very good exercises to tone your stomach as this exercise burns fat from all over your body by elevating the level of metabolism. Walking or jogging not only reduces weight but helps in fighting disease also. Ab machines are quite beneficial when supported by a complete exercise program and healthy diet.

Treadmills are ideal for performing walking or jogging. If you are unable to go to your gym regularly or stay in an area not ideal for outdoor walks, a treadmill will be the ideal machine for burning fat.

The treadmills come in various types and styles which, at times, makes it difficult for you to select the ideal one for you. However, the salesperson can assist you in selecting the right one for you.

As a personal trainer I get asked quite often about how I stay focused and motivated to train every day. Is there some secret that I know about that other people don’t? No. Is there some piece of fitness equipment that I have found that helps me? Not really. The truth is, despite the hype of gym-oriented fitness industry, one doesn’t have to be a gym regular to be fit and healthy, though it is immensely beneficial.

While there is no one right answer for everyone, over the years I have seen some things that seem to help people more than others. I’ve complied a list of “top 10″ ways to stay motivated and on track with your workout routine. Hopefully you can find a few that will help you stay on track and stay fit.

My top 10 ways to stay fit and motivated are…

1. Get an iPod and find music that you love to listen to. You can download virtually any music from sites like iTunes.

2. Buy an outfit you would love to fit into (a few sizes smaller) and work for it! Show your partner how strong your determination and will power is by making workouts a part of your routine!

3. Maintain a Fitness Diary where you can make an entry while you have the statistics of time, distance, pulse rate etc fresh in your memory. In a month’s time, you will be able to notice the improvements in your statistics. This really works to keep you motivated because on any given day you might not see any real improvements in your fitness level, but over the course of a month or two you will.

4. Get outdoors. Don’t just workout in your gym or basement. Walking/Jogging/Running are all much more fun in nature. Walking helps sleep better, builds leg muscles and helps you lose weight without injuring your knees or ankles. Plus, you can burn 125 calories for every half hour your walk. If you are fit, you can choose to alternate jogging and running in the same session to provide beautiful interval training.

5. Swimming is perfect at any age and helps tone every part of your body without impacting any one of them! And it’s never too hot to go swimming! You can burn up to 140 calories in half an hour with moderately paced breast-strokes. More calories burn during back strokes. A mere 20 minutes will help tone in 3 weeks time pitting in 5-6 days a week.

6. Cycling is another great low-impact high aerobic exercise. Get out your cycle to visit a friend or do groceries. It can burn up to 150 calories at speeds of 9.5 mph for a half hr ride. Plus it’s a great cardio and lower body workout.

7. Hiking can be an opportunity to spend time with friends or family away from home. And, it is a BIG calories spender - up to 200 calories or more every half hour. Some hiking expeditions are more strenuous than others. So be careful here.

8. Aerobics Class work great if you are a social person. Join an aerobics class with workouts such as Step (bench), weights, Taebo etc built in. You can use up to 150 - 200 calories in half an hour depending on whether your class is a low or high impact one.

9. Dancing is a great exercise with your partner. There’s lots of fun dances that you can learn, Tango, Waltz, Swing. What a fun way to burn up to 200 calories in half an hour of fun!

10. Household work can be a blessing in disguise. Sweeping the porch, gardening, wiping down the counter tops, taking down curtains and washing them, dusting, and polishing furniture can burn as much as 200 calories a day… the same as jogging for 20 minutes!

Bonus tip #11. Set time aside: Staying fit should be a commitment to yourself and your family. Make sure you set a firm time aside from all work to get any exercise of your choice that will help you stay fit and stay on track.

As you can see one of the keys to staying fit and being able to maintain a regular fitness regiment is simply to mix it up. This keeps things interesting and makes you look forward to your next workout instead of dreading it. Good luck!

Can’t afford gym membership for weight loss? Here’s the solution: get a home gym. There’s no traveling, and you can exercise whenever you have a spare moment.

Other members of the family can use the home gym too, and this brings the cost down even more.

Firstly, decide what you want to achieve with your home gym. Do you primarily want to lose weight, or do you want to develop a great body? Of course, you may want to do both.

Let’s look at items you may want to include in your home gym.

1. Dumbbells - Start out Light, and Increase the Weight Slowly

Dumbbells come in many different weights. When you’re starting out, choose a low weight set. These may be all you need for weight loss. As your strength increases, just increase your repetitions.

Tip: ensure that you get instructions on using your dumbbells. Remember, exercise slowly and mindfully — keep your mind on what you’re doing to avoid injury.

2. A Cardio Machine for Weight Loss

Your dumbbells will increase your muscle mass (more muscles burn more fat) and so will a cardio machine. Elliptical cross trainers are a good choice for cardio machines. They’re easy to use, and because they place little stress on your joints, are a good choice for anyone who’s overweight.

A stationery bike is also a good choice. As with the elliptical trainer, the bike puts little stress on your joints, so you can avoid injury as you lose weight.

3. A Fitness Ball for Stretching Exercises

A fitness ball is a great addition to any home gym. They’re inexpensive, and allow you to target specific muscle groups. You can use your ball for crunches to eliminate belly fat.

Most balls come with a workout DVD, so that you get used to the ball, and can use it safely.

Additional Tips for Weight Loss With Your Home Gym

* Start your exercise routine slowly. Initially, spend just five minutes with each piece of equipment. This is long enough when you’re just starting out.

* On busy days, choose just one piece of equipment, and exercise for ten minutes. It takes time to build strength. Keep your workouts short and fun.

* As you get used to the equipment, devise your own routines. Create at least three different routines, so you don’t get bored.

A home gym is an excellent budget solution for weight loss: choose your equipment and get started today.
